JBA Donates to Budokan

Budokan recently received a $30,000 donation from Japan Business Association of Southern California (JBA). “This generous donation from JBA represents a significant commitment by the Japanese business community to support our project, but more importantly, it signals their belief in the future vitality of Little Tokyo as a community,” said LTSC Executive Director Dean Matsubayashi. Grant Spotlight: Citi Foundation

LTSC received a very generous grant from Citi Foundation to support “Sustainable Little Tokyo” (SLT) a three-year old neighborhood-wide initiative, led by LTSC and two other Little Tokyo organizations. The goal of SLT is to support the local Little Tokyo economy, get the community involved in land use planning, and preserve the neighborhood’s unique cultural heritage.

The Citi Foundation works to promote economic progress and improve the lives of people in low-income communities around the world. Citi Foundation invests in efforts that increase financial inclusion, catalyze job opportunities for youth, and reimagine approaches to building economically vibrant cities.

With this grant from Citi Foundation, SLT is supporting existing local small businesses, engaging the community in decisions regarding vacant land, and increasing activity, visitors and commerce in Little Tokyo.

LTSC would like to thank Citi Foundation for its continuing support.

Senior Portraits Exhibit

Senior Portraits is a result of a collaboration between LTSC's +lab and Las Fotos Project. These portraits are on display and free to view at the Far East Lounge (353 E. This presentation was created as a part of LTSC's effort to make the seniors who live in affordable housing in Little Tokyo more visible and also to highlight LTSC resources such as social services, community organizing and the Far East Lounge as an active community space!
