LDK Apartments Near Completion

With our project partners Korean Resource Center, LDK Senior Apartments, located at 900 Crenshaw Blvd. and 540 S. Kingsley Dr. in the Koreatown/Wilshire neighborhood, is near completion and projected to open later this summer. Collectively, the two sites will provide 65 units of studio and one-bedroom apartments to low-income seniors, one of the most vulnerable populations in need of care. We received more than 3,000 applications for these units, proving that affordable housing is critically needed in our community. See more progress photos on our Facebook album page.

CHAMPS and Dwight Stuart Youth Fund

Saturday mornings at Angelina Apartments are full of activities. Mentors from UCLA are busy tutoring with arts and craft projects in progress while basketballs are bouncing out on the playground. This is CHAMPS, the Casa Heiwa Angelina Mentoring Program, where the youth living in LTSC’s affordable apartment buildings come for mentoring and fun activities on Saturday mornings.

CHAMPS is funded by a grant from the Dwight Stuart Youth Fund, which supports organizations that provide direct services to underserved youth from recreation to educational activities. “This generous support makes CHAMPS possible,” said Nancy Alcaraz, LTSC’s Director of Resident Services. “At the youths’ request, we have been able to add tutoring on Wednesday evenings and college prep workshops on Sunday afternoons.” Little Tokyo Service Center would like to thank the Dwight Stuart Youth Fund for continuing to support our efforts to improve the lives of our youth!
